Launched in 2010 by the Issey Miyake Reality Lab, 132 5. Issey Miyake is a fashion line born from the intersection of mathematics, sustainability, and apparel design. The project, developed in collaboration with computer scientists, transforms recycled polyester fabric into three-dimensional, architectural garments that can be folded flat into two-dimensional geometric shapes. The name itself signifies this process: one piece of cloth (1) becomes a 3D shape (3), is folded into a 2D form (2), and finds a fifth dimension (5) of existence when worn.
