Founded in 2017 by two NC State University students, 321 Coffee is a Raleigh-based coffee roaster and retailer built on a mission of inclusion. The company provides meaningful employment for over 50 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), who are involved in every aspect of the business from roasting beans to preparing lattes. The name “321” is a reference to Down syndrome, which is caused by a third copy of the 21st chromosome, reflecting the brand's core commitment to celebrating diversity. What began as a college club with folding tables has grown into a beloved local institution with multiple coffee shops and a dedicated roastery.
