Acne Studios is a multidisciplinary luxury fashion house founded in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1996. Originally part of a creative collective, the brand’s fashion journey began when co-founder Jonny Johansson created 100 pairs of raw denim jeans with distinctive red stitching for friends and family. This foundational focus on denim was later formalized in 2017 with the launch of Acne Studios Blå Konst (Swedish for “Blue Art”), a dedicated line that revisited and refined the brand’s denim origins with a focus on timeless fits and experimental washes. Today, Acne Studios is celebrated for its juxtaposition of Scandinavian minimalism and playful, eclectic design, which Johansson dubs “maximalist minimalism.”
