Founded in 1922 in New York City by Sam Manus, a former violinist and importer of mood music for silent films, Alfred Music has grown into a cornerstone of global music education. Now headquartered in Los Angeles, the publisher is recognized for its highly structured, pedagogically sound approach to musical instruction. Alfred Music caters to a broad audience—from young beginners and self-taught hobbyists to university educators—through its extensive catalog of meticulously arranged sheet music, progressive piano exercises, and comprehensive method books. Its core product lines, including the widely used Alfred’s Basic Piano Library and the Suzuki Method, are celebrated for breaking down complex music theory into accessible, digestible lessons.
