Founded in 2001 by Emily Armenta, who developed the business plan as part of her MBA program, Armenta is a fine jewelry brand rooted in the rich artistic history of Spain and the concept of “duende,” or the struggle that gives way to beauty. Each piece is handcrafted in the company’s Houston, Texas, atelier by skilled artisans, many of whom are women from disadvantaged backgrounds who have been trained through the brand’s own educational programs. The designs are known for their distinctive “Old World” aesthetic, blending the ruggedness of oxidized sterling silver with the warmth of 18k yellow and 14k rose gold, often incorporating ethically sourced gemstones and ancient artifacts. This juxtaposition of dark and light, rough and refined, gives the jewelry its signature, story-driven character.
