ASICS Tiger was a lifestyle brand under the Japanese sportswear giant ASICS, which itself originated from Onitsuka Co., Ltd., founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in Kobe, Japan, in 1949. The parent company was built on the philosophy of "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano" (A Sound Mind in a Sound Body), a principle that continues to guide the corporation. In 1977, Onitsuka Tiger merged with two other companies to officially form ASICS, which focused heavily on technical innovation for athletic performance.
