Founded in 1983, Avenue is an American retailer specializing in plus-size women's apparel for sizes 14 and up. The brand targets women aged 25 to 55, providing a range of fashionable and affordable clothing, from casual basics to formalwear, as well as shoes and accessories. For years, it operated as a staple in the plus-size community with over 222 physical stores across the United States. After facing financial struggles and filing for bankruptcy, the company closed all its brick-and-mortar locations in 2019 to focus exclusively on its e-commerce business.\n\nFollowing the store closures, Avenue's e-commerce assets were acquired by Australian retailer City Chic Collective. In June 2024, the brand was sold again to FullBeauty Brands, a company with a large portfolio of size-inclusive labels. This most recent acquisition places Avenue alongside other well-known plus-size retailers like Catherines and ELOQUII, with FullBeauty Brands aiming to revitalize the brand and expand its market reach.
