Founded in 1903 in Hawick, Scotland, Barrie is one of the country’s oldest specialist cashmere manufactures. For over a century, it supplied high-end knitwear to top fashion houses, including Chanel, which acquired the factory in 2012 to preserve its exceptional savoir-faire as one of its Métiers d’Art. The standalone Barrie brand was launched in 2014, translating its deep-rooted heritage into its own collections. Since 2018, artistic director Augustin Dol-Maillot, who trained at Chanel, has infused the house with a modern energy, bridging Scottish tradition with a Parisian design sensibility.
