Bembien was founded in 2017 by former Vogue marketing director Yi-Mei Truxes. Inspired by the effortless style of a woman carrying a woven basket bag in New York, Truxes established a brand centered on artisan craftsmanship and timeless design. The Brooklyn-based label launched with a collection of rattan bags handmade by weavers in Bali, which quickly gained a following and were seen on figures like Zoe Kravitz and Katie Holmes. Today, the collection includes woven leather handbags, footwear, and silk scarves, blending nostalgic influences with a modern, coastal sensibility.
