Founded in 1961 in Santa Ana, California, by Carrie Birdwell Mann, Birdwell Beach Britches is a cornerstone of American surf heritage. Mann, who began sewing out of her living room, created some of the first purpose-built boardshorts for local lifeguards and surfers.
