Founded in 2023 by Laura Baker, Abe Pines, and Yoel Zagelbaum, Cafe ESSX is the culinary and lifestyle extension of ESSX NYC, a sprawling avant-garde concept store located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Conceived as a community hub to recapture the authentic, creative energy of New York’s downtown scene, the cafe sits alongside racks of independent and luxury designer clothing. The founders, who sought to revive the immersive in-store shopping experience missing from the city, integrated the cafe to foster a sense of community among creatives, stylists, and locals.
