Founded in 2018 by Brazilian-born footwear executives David Python and Fernando Porto, Cariuma is a sneaker brand built on a mission of sustainability and social responsibility. The duo left careers in fast fashion to create a company that prioritizes conscious consumption, using low-impact materials like GOTS-certified organic cotton, natural rubber, bamboo, and recycled plastics. As a certified B Corporation, the brand is committed to ethical manufacturing and transparency, with its primary factory holding a WRAP Gold certification. For every pair of sneakers sold, Cariuma plants two trees in the Brazilian rainforest as part of its in-house reforestation program.
