Founded in 1918 by Clifford Furst and Joseph Bobley, Castlecliff originated as a prominent New York City costume jewelry house known for its bold, historically inspired designs. Relaunched in 2017 by designer Stephanie Schwallie, the brand has been reimagined as a sustainable luxury label that honors its mid-century roots. Schwallie, an industry veteran who previously led jewelry design at major fashion houses, revived the label to counter the environmental waste of modern accessory production.
