The Cellini collection represented Rolex's tribute to classicism and the refined elegance of traditional watchmaking for over 50 years. Named after the celebrated Italian Renaissance artist Benvenuto Cellini, the line was formally established in 1968 as a distinct family of dress watches, setting it apart from the brand’s robust Oyster-cased tool watches. Crafted exclusively in precious metals like 18k gold and platinum, Cellini models served as a canvas for Rolex's design experimentation, featuring a wide variety of case shapes, from the avant-garde asymmetrical King Midas designed by Gérald Genta to sleek, rectangular Prince models and classic round cases.
