Founded in Paris in 1780 by Marie-Étienne Nitot, Chaumet is a venerable high jewelry house with a history deeply intertwined with the French Imperial court. As the official jeweler to Empress Joséphine, Nitot crafted elaborate parures and ceremonial pieces, including Napoléon's coronation sword, that defined the era's grandeur and established the Maison's legacy. The house, which was the first jeweler to establish a boutique on the legendary Place Vendôme in 1812, has been headquartered at number 12 since 1907, a location that houses its workshop, archives, and flagship store. Chaumet’s style is characterized by grace and character, often drawing from naturalistic motifs like wheat, laurels, and bees, as well as its historical connection to royalty, most notably through its iconic tiaras and the Joséphine collection.
