Founded in 1989 in Kent, England, by former avionics engineer John Franks, Chord Electronics is a high-end audio manufacturer that applies aerospace-grade engineering to sound reproduction. Franks’ background in developing ultra-reliable power supplies for aircraft directly informed the brand's early focus on advanced, high-frequency power supplies for professional studio amplifiers. Today, the brand is best known for its proprietary digital-to-analog conversion (DAC) technology, developed in collaboration with digital designer Rob Watts.
