Founded in 2019 by its namesake, a Central Saint Martins graduate, Christina Seewald is a Vienna-based knitwear label rooted in conceptual design and technical craft. The brand is known for a raw, sensual, and intellectually driven approach, creating pieces that are both forceful and fragile. Drawing inspiration from feminist artists and theorists like Eva Hesse and Julia Kristeva, Seewald’s collections explore socio-political themes of female empowerment and vulnerability, famously translating the shape of a female urination device (the “Shewee”) into a signature sleeve design to comment on societal norms. The aesthetic is defined by deconstructed sweaters, asymmetric patchworks, and sheer layers that play with exposure and concealment.
