Founded in 2015 in Tokyo by Kentaro Nakagomi—a designer with a background in textile development and pattern making—Cohérence is a Japanese menswear label that reimagines the golden age of outerwear. The brand draws its primary inspiration from the wardrobes of legendary 20th-century artists, intellectuals, and cultural figures, such as Le Corbusier, Albert Camus, and Marcel Duchamp. Rather than producing direct replicas, Nakagomi uses archival photographs and vintage tailoring manuals as a starting point to create modern, highly functional garments.
