Launched in 1978 as the first menswear expression of Rei Kawakubo’s revolutionary vision, Comme des Garçons Homme translates the house’s avant-garde principles into wearable, expertly crafted garments. The line was the first of many diffusions from the main Comme des Garçons brand, which was founded in Tokyo in 1969. Since 2003, the collection has been designed by Kawakubo’s protégé, Junya Watanabe, who brings his own mastery of pattern-making, patchwork, and fabric treatments to the line. Homme is distinguished from the more radical Homme Plus collection by its focus on reimagining classic menswear archetypes.
