Tao is a womenswear line within the Comme des Garçons universe, designed by Tao Kurihara, a protégé of Junya Watanabe and a graduate of Central Saint Martins. The designer first launched her eponymous label in 2005, which ran until 2011 before she returned to focus on the Tricot Comme des Garçons line. In 2022, in a move characteristic of the parent brand's quiet approach, the long-standing Tricot line was rebranded as Tao, marking a rebirth for Kurihara’s vision.
