Founded in 2015 by Toshiaki and Yukari Watanabe in Kojima, Japan—the historic heart of the country’s denim industry—Cottle is an artisanal clothing label rooted in traditional textile craftsmanship. Operating out of a restored 130-year-old textile factory, the brand functions as both an atelier and a gallery, allowing for a vertically integrated approach where garments are conceptualized and produced under one roof. Toshiaki, a graduate of Bunka Fashion College with a background in premium denim manufacturing, infuses the brand with a deep respect for Japanese folk traditions and utilitarian design.
