Founded in 1948 in Burlington, Ontario, by Walter Sedlbauer and Anthony Ronza, Cougar began its journey in a former parachute factory crafting durable footwear for harsh Canadian winters. Originally named Susan Footwear Industries, the company rebranded to Cougar following the success of an athletic shoe of the same name. The brand is best known for its signature Pillow Boot, introduced in 1976, which became a Canadian icon with its caramel-colored leather, red fleece lining, and exceptional warmth.
