DAOU Family Estates is a California winery founded in 2007 by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou, who, after a successful career in technology, pursued their dream of creating world-class wine. Originally from Lebanon, the brothers' family emigrated to France after their home was hit by a missile during the Lebanese Civil War. Their search for the ideal terroir led them to a mountain in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, a site previously praised by legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff for its rare calcareous clay soils, similar to Bordeaux. This unique terroir, at an elevation of 2,200 feet, is central to the brand's identity and its success in growing Bordeaux varietals.
