Founded in Brussels in 1829 by trunk maker Charles Delvaux, Delvaux is the world’s oldest fine leather goods house and an official purveyor to the Royal Court of Belgium. Predating the formation of Belgium itself, the brand patented the first-ever leather handbag in 1908, cementing its role as a foundational name in modern luxury. Delvaux’s identity is defined by sculptural, architectural bags handcrafted from fine European leathers. Its most recognized designs include the top-handle Brillant, a structured trapezoid shape created for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair, and the nautical-inspired Tempête. The house prides itself on its 'savoir-faire,' with artisans training for years to master the complex construction of each piece, many of which are still made by hand in its ateliers in Belgium and France.
