Fashion Fair is the first international prestige cosmetics brand created specifically for women of color. Founded in 1973 by Eunice Johnson, the visionary behind the Ebony Fashion Fair traveling show, the brand was born from the necessity of mixing foundations to match the skin tones of Black models. For decades, it stood as a symbol of empowerment and Black beauty, becoming a staple in department stores and a cherished name in households. After its parent company, Johnson Publishing, faced financial hardship, the brand went into decline and was eventually acquired in 2019 by former Johnson Publishing executives Desiree Rogers and Cheryl Mayberry McKissack.
