Tellurico is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2017 by Italian designer Francesco Pace, a graduate of the Design Academy of Eindhoven. Based in the Netherlands, the studio specializes in creating objects, spaces, and installations that investigate the connections between traditional crafts, folklore, and the environment. Pace's work is deeply rooted in research, exploring how the historical, geological, and social context of a place can inform contemporary design. The studio's practice is characterized by material experimentation, with a focus on natural and raw materials like volcanic porcelain and wood, often blurring the line between art and functional design.\n\nTellurico's pieces are handcrafted and produced as one-offs or in limited editions, and are sold through international design galleries. The studio has gained significant recognition in the design world, with exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, and Milan Design Week. Francesco Pace has been named one of the Best Italian Designers Under 40 by Platform Magazine and has won the prestigious Officine Saffi Award. Notable projects include 'Telluride,' a series of vessels made from lava stones and porcelain, and 'Untitled 1B,' a live performance where Pace sculpted wooden objects to highlight the value of time and craftsmanship in design.
