Founded in 2002 in Langenburg, Germany, Friedemann Buehler is an artisanal studio renowned for its breathtaking sculptural wooden vessels. Helmed by a master woodturner deeply rooted in the forests of Hohenlohe, the brand transforms locally sourced, felled oak and ash into impossibly thin, fluid forms. Buehler’s meticulous process begins with shaping raw trunks using an axe and chainsaw before bringing them to the lathe. Working with wet wood, he allows each piece to dry and shift over several years, coaxing remarkably lightweight and delicate shapes from solid timber. The resulting collections feature sculptural bowls and decorative objects that highlight the natural grain and texture of the wood, finished with techniques ranging from smooth sanding to rough brushing, bleaching, and oiling.
