Founded in 1986 by Kent Uyehara in San Francisco, FTC (For The City) began as a modest collection of skate gear in the back of a ski and tennis shop. By 1994, the brand opened its first dedicated storefront in the historic Haight-Ashbury district, perfectly timing the explosion of city street skating. Uyehara, deeply embedded in the local scene, helped nurture the talented outsiders and artists who put legendary San Francisco skate spots like the Embarcadero (EMB) on the map.
