Launched in 2019 by Colombian-born, Amsterdam-based designer Monika Silva, GAUGE81 (pronounced GOSH-eighty-one) emerged to fill a gap between casual and evening wear. Silva, a former knitwear specialist, created a brand identity rooted in the clean, minimal lines of the '90s, infused with a bold, feminine sensuality. The label quickly became known for its striking angles, playful proportions, and a 'sexy-in-the-daytime' approach, expressed through body-hugging knit dresses, sculptural blazers, and draped silk separates. The designs often feature thoughtful juxtapositions, such as pairing an ultra-mini hemline with a more covered top to balance the silhouette.
