With origins dating back to 1791 in Geneva, Girard-Perregaux is one of Switzerland's oldest and most respected watchmaking Manufactures. Founded by Jean-François Bautte, who innovatively grouped all watchmaking crafts under one roof, the company was formally established in 1856 in La Chaux-de-Fonds after the marriage of watchmaker Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux. The brand is celebrated for its mastery of both technical and aesthetic aspects of watchmaking, producing its movements, cases, and bands entirely in-house. A defining moment came in 1889 when Constant Girard's Tourbillon with three gold bridges was awarded a gold medal at the International Exposition in Paris, establishing a design code that remains emblematic of the brand today.
