Founded in Paris in 1950 by goldsmith Robert Goossens, the son of a metal foundry worker, Goossens is a couture jeweler celebrated for its unique blend of artistry and craftsmanship. Goossens quickly became the trusted parurier for Paris’s leading couturiers, including Cristóbal Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, and most notably, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The collaboration with Chanel, beginning in 1953, was particularly defining, resulting in the creation of iconic jewelry in Byzantine, ancient, and barbaric-inspired styles that perfectly matched her vision of mixing genuine and costume gems. The house is renowned for its masterful work with gilded brass, rock crystal, and semi-precious stones, creating pieces that are both sculptural and spectacular.
