Founded in 2015 in the Catalan countryside by former advertising and theatre professionals Casiana and Jordi, Grapat was born from a desire to offer children unstructured, nature-inspired play. The Spanish brand has since become a cult favorite among Waldorf and Montessori families, celebrated for its open-ended wooden toys that encourage imaginative, rule-free exploration. Grapat’s core product lines—ranging from colorful Nins (peg dolls) to intricate mandala pieces and sorting sets—are defined by their simplicity and sensory appeal. Crafted from sustainably sourced beech and birch wood, each piece is stained by hand using non-toxic, water-based dyes that allow the natural wood grain to show through.
