Launched in 2017 by New York-born, London-based designer Michael Halpern, the Halpern brand became an instant highlight of London Fashion Week for its unapologetic and joyful glamour. A graduate of Central Saint Martins with experience at Oscar de la Renta and Atelier Versace, Halpern infused his work with a high-octane energy inspired by his mother’s stories of 1970s New York nightlife. The brand was defined by its dazzling, sequin-covered garments, from sculptural mini-dresses and draped gowns to flared trousers, all rendered in a vibrant, maximalist color palette. Halpern’s designs offered a form of decadent escapism, quickly finding a following among celebrities like Amal Clooney, Lupita Nyong'o, and Beyoncé for red-carpet events.
