Heat Holders was founded in 2008 by David Doughty, a veteran of the sock industry who sought to create a thermal sock that delivered genuine warmth. The brand’s creation was a direct response to the declining quality of mass-market thermal socks, which had become progressively thinner and less effective. Doughty, inspired by his own cold feet while watching his son's football match, dedicated two years to developing a unique, three-stage manufacturing process. This proprietary method involves using a specially sourced, cashmere-like acrylic yarn, knitting a patented long-looped cushion pile to trap air, and an intensive brushing technique to maximize warmth and softness. The resulting product was a sock with a scientifically tested Thermal Overall Grade (TOG) rating of 2.34, significantly warmer than standard cotton or traditional thermal socks.
