Founded in 2008 by Southern California native Jonathan Bussiere, Hips and Hair is an independent casualwear label rooted in West Coast youth culture. Bussiere, who began screen-printing tees while studying film at Loyola Marymount University, launched the brand to capture the laid-back, slightly subversive spirit of the local lifestyle. The brand built a niche following for its tongue-in-cheek graphic prints, snippy one-liners, and edgy artwork that draws heavily from contemporary American pop culture and grunge aesthetics.
