Founded in Boulder, Colorado, in 1946 by avid mountaineers Alice and Roy Holubar, the brand began by selling surplus army gear before designing its own innovative equipment. Holubar was a pioneer in the outdoor industry, being one of the first to use lightweight nylon and down insulation, and is credited with inventing the classic Mountain Parka. This iconic jacket, particularly the orange version worn by Robert De Niro in the 1978 film "The Deer Hunter," cemented the brand's cult status. After a period of dormancy, the brand was acquired by Italian entrepreneur Alberto Raengo and revitalized, shifting its production to Europe.
