Founded in 1775 in Paris by Jean-François Houbigant, Houbigant is one of the world’s oldest continuously operating perfume houses. Originally favored by French nobility and European royals, the house is credited with revolutionizing modern perfumery. In 1882, Houbigant launched Fougère Royale, the first fragrance to isolate synthetic coumarin, establishing the entirely new fougère olfactory family. In 1912, the brand introduced Quelques Fleurs, widely considered the first multi-floral bouquet in perfume history.
