Founded in New York City in 1892 by brothers Robert and Charles Ingersoll, the brand pioneered affordable watchmaking for the masses. With an ambitious plan to sell a reliable timepiece for a single dollar—then a day's wages—they created the iconic “Dollar Watch.” By adopting mass-production techniques with help from Henry Ford, Ingersoll sold millions of units and became a household name, famously lauded by figures like President Theodore Roosevelt. The company was also an early innovator, introducing the first luminous “Radiolite” watches used in WWI and, in a landmark 1933 partnership with Disney, the first-ever Mickey Mouse watch.
