Founded in 1970 by Hiroshima-born designer Issey Miyake, the Tokyo-based brand is revered for its research-led approach that merges technological innovation with traditional Japanese techniques. Grounded in the core concept of “A Piece of Cloth,” the house deconstructs Western tailoring conventions to explore the relationship between the body, the garment, and the space created between them.
