Jacques Fath was a leading figure in post-war Parisian haute couture, establishing his house in 1937. A self-taught designer, Fath became known for a glamorous, playful, and often seductive style that celebrated the female form with hourglass silhouettes and dramatic details, dressing clients like Rita Hayworth and Eva Perón. His atelier was a formative training ground for future legends, including Hubert de Givenchy, Guy Laroche, and Valentino Garavani. His innovative spirit also extended to business, where he was a pioneer in licensing agreements for the American ready-to-wear market. Fath’s vibrant career was cut short by his death in 1954, leading to the closure of the couture house in 1957, though the brand lived on through its iconic fragrances like Iris Gris and Green Water.
