Jil Sander Navy was a womenswear diffusion line launched in 2011 under the creative direction of a separate design team, not Raf Simons who was then at the helm of the main Jil Sander brand. Priced 30-40% lower than the runway collection, the line was conceived to offer a more casual, relaxed, and accessible entry point to the Jil Sander universe. The collection focused on an elegant but urban lifestyle, featuring wardrobe staples like outerwear, knitwear, dresses, and blouses that retained the main line's minimalist and clean design principles but with a more informal and sometimes sporty feel. The aesthetic was described as embodying "pure and essential luxury" for everyday life. The brand had its own flagship stores and was sold in department stores, with an initial focus on the U.S. and Japanese markets. However, the line was discontinued in 2019, with the Spring/Summer 2019 collection being its last. The closure coincided with the launch of the new Jil Sander+ line, although the brand stated the two events were unconnected.
