Japanese designer Junya Watanabe, a protégé of Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo, launched his namesake label in 1992. Often described as “techno-couture,” his work is defined by an avant-garde deconstruction and reconstruction of classic garments, particularly workwear and tailoring.
