Founded in 1993 in Seattle, Washington, by former commercial fisherman Barry Barr, KAVU (Klear Above Visibility Unlimited) was born out of a practical need: a hat that wouldn't blow off in the harsh winds of the Bering Sea. This led to the creation of the brand's signature Strapcap, a canvas cap secured with nylon webbing, which laid the foundation for a full-fledged outdoor lifestyle brand. Today, KAVU is celebrated for its lighthearted, fun-focused approach to outdoor apparel and accessories, prioritizing vibrant colors, whimsical prints, and functional design over hyper-technical gear.
