Founded in Milan in 1954 by former schoolteacher Mariuccia Mandelli, Krizia is a brand built on intellectual curiosity and material innovation. Mandelli, nicknamed “Crazy Krizia” by the press, established a reputation for her avant-garde yet wearable designs, challenging conventions with early forms of hot pants in 1971 and a constant exploration of new fabrics. The house became synonymous with sophisticated Italian ready-to-wear, defined by its expertly crafted knitwear, architectural pleating, and signature use of animal motifs, particularly the panther, which appeared on sweaters and accessories each season. Krizia was a key force in establishing Milan as a global fashion capital, attracting a clientele of confident, independent women.
