Founded in 2021 by Hung La, a Vietnamese-American designer with experience at Balenciaga and Phoebe Philo-era Céline, Lu'u Dan is a luxury menswear label born from a desire to challenge cultural stereotypes. The brand’s name is a Vietnamese colloquialism for “dangerous man,” and its design philosophy is rooted in reframing Asian masculinity through the lens of cinematic villains, punk rebellion, and real-life subcultures like Japanese bōsōzoku motorcycle gangs. The collections are defined by a defiant, non-conformist spirit, expressed through inventive knits, graphic prints, and relaxed tailoring.
