Launched in 2009 in San Francisco, Marine Layer was founded by Michael Natenshon after his girlfriend threw out his favorite worn-in t-shirt. This inspired a year-long quest to create a new shirt with that same perfectly broken-in feel from day one. The result was a signature custom fabric blending Supima cotton and MicroModal, which now forms the basis of the brand’s collection of what it calls “absurdly soft” casualwear. The brand’s style is deeply rooted in a laid-back, Northern California coastal vibe, offering everything from tees and hoodies to dresses and outerwear designed for a “seven-day weekend” lifestyle.
