Founded in 2018 by Kudrat Makkar, MASTANI is a Melbourne-based luxury womenswear label that bridges contemporary Australian design with India’s rich artisanal heritage. Inspired by the historical Indian princess Mastani—a symbol of strength and femininity—the brand is dedicated to empowering the modern woman through bold, structural silhouettes and fluid draping. Makkar, who grew up in Punjab, established an in-house atelier in India to preserve ancestral techniques such as hand-looming, intricate embroidery, and bandhani, ensuring that every piece honors the hands that made it.
