Founded in 1952 in the French alpine village of Monestier-de-Clermont, Moncler began by creating quilted sleeping bags and tents for mountain expeditions. The brand’s signature down jacket was born out of utility, first developed to protect factory workers from the cold. This expertise in performance outerwear became its foundation, equipping the first expedition to conquer K2 in 1954 and outfitting the French Olympic ski team in 1968. Today, under the leadership of Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, who acquired the brand in 2003, Moncler is a Milan-based luxury fashion powerhouse.
