Launched in 1969 by Italian entrepreneur Giancarlo Zanatta of the Tecnica Group, Moon Boot was born from the collective fascination with the Apollo 11 lunar landing. Zanatta, inspired by the distinctive shape and technology of the astronauts' anti-gravity boots, designed the oversized, ambidextrous après-ski footwear that would become an icon of 20th-century design. The original boot, constructed from nylon fabrics and polyurethane foam with a lightweight midsole and rubber tread sole, prioritized warmth and a futuristic look, quickly becoming a staple in ski resorts and a symbol of the Space Age aesthetic.
