The Nike x Off-White collaboration, initiated in 2017 by Off-White founder Virgil Abloh, is a pivotal moment in modern sneaker culture. The project launched with "The Ten," a collection where Abloh, an architect by training, deconstructed and rebuilt ten iconic Nike, Jordan, and Converse silhouettes. Using an X-Acto knife and a hands-on approach, he exposed the inner workings of each shoe, applying his signature text-based irony (like "AIR" and "SHOELACES"), exposed foam, relocated Swooshes, and a distinctive zip-tie accent. This design process was split into two themes: "REVEALING," which involved hand-cut and reconstructed builds, and "GHOSTING," which utilized translucent uppers.
